Another landmark of the nature paradise Galapagos are the boobies, in particular the large population of blue-footed boobies. The proud birds owe their name to the seafarers of bygone times who joked about their carefree attitude and the way they walked on land.

What is very impressive is the courtship dance of the blue-footed boobies. During the mating ritual the male bird tries to impress the choosy female with his rhythmic dance by hopping from one blue foot to the other.
