Galapagos | Seymour

Seymour

Seymour Norte (Seymour North) lies north-east of Baltra (Seymour South), nor far from Santa Cruz. Besides land iguanas, the blue-footed boobies are the stars of the island with its diverse range of species. However, sea lions and frigate birds also delight visitors.

The flat lava plateau is covered in balsam trees and prickly pears. One theory is that the island was first an underwater plateau which was lifted out of the sea in the course of a million years.

What is particularly impressive is the courtship dance of the blue-footed boobies. Many of them can also be observed whilst breeding or rearing their young.

Day excursions to the island Seymor Norte are frequently combined with a bathing or snorkelling stop-over on the coral beach Las Bachas where the marine turtles also come to nest.
